Through the years Simpson has been revered for his unparalleled ability to compose unforgettable melodies and irresistible grooves. Simpson’s soulful approach to music has made him first call for many including Janet Jackson, Teena Marie, George Duke, Stanley Clarke and Dave Koz. A chart-topping musical chameleon who wrote the #1 R&B hit “The First Time” for Surface in the 1990s, Brian Simpson has a knack for churning out timeless anthems.

Magic City Smooth Jazz is an IRS registered 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization dedicated to enhancing cultural activities through various styles of jazz in the State of Alabama.  Since its inception in 2008, Magic City Smooth Jazz has hosted over 90 FREE concerts to the public while presenting over 275 emerging and established artists while impacting the lives of over 20,000 adults and children.

Our mission is to expose and engage audiences in culturally underserved communities in the state of Alabama to various styles of jazz at no cost to the public. 

Organization goals are to enhance cultural arts in communities, support area jazz musicians, and educate youth and adults through music workshops.

Jory's Journey Foundation

Magic City Smooth Jazz and Jory's Journey Foundation will collaborate during Jazz in the Park Birmingham for autism awareness and resources available.  The Jory's Journey Foundation mission is to educate, empower, and inspire underserved communities impacted by autism, helping to ensure each child reaches their full potential.
